Captured on the 22nd August 2021 using the RASA11 with the ASI2600MC-P one shot colour camera and a Baader UHC-S filter, the Eastern Veil Nebula, (NGC 6992, Caldwell 33, a.k.a. "Joker's Smile"), is located within the Cygnus Loop (Sharpless 103) in the Cygnus Constellation approx 2,500 light years away.
The nebula region is a supernova remnant, an ionised gas region. The area is estimated to be expanding at around 1,500,000 km per hour having done direct observation using the Hubble Telescope between 1997 and 2015.
